smartShift is one of the leading international providers of solutions for the customer-specific, tool-based modernization of complex IT systems for medium and large enterprises. We migrate IT systems into new environments and increase their value, independent of their position within their current lifecycle or program basis.

We have offices in Mannheim and Munich, Germany, with international branches in Boston, USA and Hyderabad, India.

Founded in Bosten in 1992 as International Integration Inc. (i-cube), the company quickly became a market leader in the area of the tool-based modernization of IT systems. The patents and methodologies developed then were carried over to smartShift and following many years of project experience, developed into the current smartShift methodology.

In addition to our traditional focus on the legacy market, we have recently begun to forge strong engagements within the SAP market. In this area we are able to apply the same know how, tools and expertise gathered from years of practical experience, engaging with customers and partners in projects for the upgrade and Unicode conversion of customized SAP applications. In particular, our part lies in automating the analysis of custom developments and modifications, creating transparency and preparing and transferring valuable SAP sources over to new release platforms. Integrating in-customer-developed programs in upgrade and Unicode conversion processes is an especially important element here.
